Battery cover; Trivial question

Hi all,

Trivial one, but how do you place the plastic shield that goes over the battery? I found it effectively on top of the battery, tucked to the left, but from what little photos I can find on the net, it seems to get tucked down one side - not covering the battery.

Photos could be a massive help?

I've never seen a battery cover on a 190. Are you talking about the black plastic trim/cover that goes behind the battery which covers the Ecu's etc?

Yeah it's a black plastic trim - very thin. I think that might be what you're talking about - will see if it fits any better. It's got some bumps in it. Any photos appreciated!

It's the waterproof lining which fits (sort of) behind the battery to keep wet off the Ecu. I'm f'd if I know how it's supposed to fit, but it's all to do with locating it tightly against the perforated panel which goes crosswise. Big pain.

It sits behind the battery, and underneath the rear bulkhead. The bump is positioned to allow room for the positive terminal lead, so that faces towards the rear. Get that bit in place and the rest should follow. The three "prongs" locate under the bottom edge of the rear ledge above the ECUs and should sit fairly snugly. Persevere and you'll work it out. Looks a whole lot neater when it's in place and will protect the ECUs and relays from water ingress.

Cheers guys, you've all hit the nail on the head. Been scratching my head on it and couldn't work out where it was meant to go. It doesn't fit quite as snugly as I'd like, but it should repel the water well enough. Thanks for the pointers, will post up a picture tomorrow in better light :)
