Sounds silly, I know, but there are two little lamps marked 'ASD' - one is a triangle which goes on when the system is activated, the other a circuit bulb which lights when the ignition is switched on. Actually, they both do, but only the triangle indicates use when moving.

If not, you have a Limited Slip Diff of the more conventional type, found on the earliest cars.

What does ASD stand for? lol I know LSD, would removing the rear shocks effect the ASD in anyway? soz to ask lots of questions

ASD = Anti-skid differential (I think). electro-hydraulic (as opposed to mechanical) LSD. Some say LSD is better, certainly simpler. Swapping for conventional rear dampers/suspension should have no effect. But try a converted car before you do it, unless it's all sha66ed, in which case it's a different matter.

.............................its a varible slip diff, and if you remove the shockers.............just blank the feed to the shockers and leave the pump on the engine............and the asd should be ok...............if you remove the pump and blank the diff off, it will be just a normal diff...........the expert 16v boys will correct me if i'm wrong

Is that for shocks and springs?

I have been looking everywhere for that kit but cant find anyone who has it in stock.
Its listed on lots of websites but when I've phoned the companies they have told me they don't have any in stock.

I'm sure any half competent engineering shop would be able to make one up.

If i was still in employment at my last firm, id have made them up no problem :crying:

i have a 1985 2.3 16v with lsd and i've removed my sls and replaced with a bilstein b12 kit from www.europerformance.com, shocks and springs ! handles superb ! when i say i've removed it, i mean a good mechanic i know did (ex main dealer mechanic when 16v first came out) ! he took workings out of pump and put caseing back on and blanked pipe inlet/outlet ! works perfect, cheap option ! now i need to improve anti roll bars though !
