Right, I've been having a nightmare with my cold starting and idling as well as very rich running. If I had the money I'd get management on it, but I don't so I wont. So the next best thing is to fix what I have before I sell. I'm guessing that when I start it, the cold start injector should fire, giving it the extra fuel it needs to start, but the amount it uses depends on if it's hot or cold, depending on what reading the CTS is giving? The ICV helps it start too I guess as per Steve's thread. With my car it will start fine from the key, no throttle needed when the ICV is connected and it will idle away happily, if I rev it a bit it'll will settle back to tickover. Now if I go for a drive and come to a stop then the engine will cut out. It'll start fine off the key again though. If I disconnect the ICV as it has been for ages, it needs some throttle to start, then it wont idle by itself until it's warm. When it's warm it will tickover when I come to a stop. If I turn it off then it needs throttle to start. What are people's thoughts? ICV? Surely if it's not connected it shouldn't idle?!? It will always run rich no matter. Any ideas what could cause this? |

ok as we all know im no expert but i would still say idle controll valve ? (in my head its like this ) its prob working fine when cold, but once upto tempt it is prob still doing what it shouldnt when warm and causing this problem this then may well be over fueling etc via the brain? i'll stop now as i am just guessing and dont want to make things worse best of luck with it |

True, the one on my Saab lasted 10 years, then the new one lasted about 3 months before it went a bit funky! |
