Hi All
As above really, i've also read the sticky which confirmed i have all the bits in the correct order. I just cannot get this to go back together.
The bit thats giving me the grief is the disc spring pair that loads the side slop. Hope that makes sense. Just cannot get the main shift bar all the way home.
Is there a method to this that i am unaware of or is it pure luck. I have a steel bar thats holding the three arms in alignment but thats not helping .
All ideas gratefully recieved.

Oohhh, I just put one together not too long ago. I will try to explain what I did.

-First get all the rods in order, and the washers (2 flat washers on the outside, 2 spring washers on the inside, convex facing toward eachother.)
-Place the two clear plastic pieces in their place on the sides of the housing (it will help to grease them on to stay in place, same with all the other pieces).
-Then gather the shift rods in one hand, and the bundle of washers in the other, and roughly fit them in the housing.
-Make the centering adjustments of the washers using a flat head screwdriver until it everything seems pretty concentric. Then guide in the shaft, moving the rods accordingly allow it to fit through.

It will take a few tries but just be patient, it will eventually all line up.

Hope it helps.

One more suggestion:

Find a wood dowel or screw driver handle or whatever with the same diameter as the main shift rod and use it to get all the washers/levers, etc. lined up before feeding in the main shift rod itself.

i am having this exact problem.
however, it would appear that the reason I cant push the main rod fully home is because the pin that goes through it (that selects each individual arm) is fouling on the concave springy washers....if I remove the pin, it goes together fine, but wont select any gears....obviously!
the concave washers have the same internal dimater as the main rod - how does the actual selector pin in the main rod fit through here to select the individual rods???????
i have literally spent HOURS trying to get this back together - done it a few times with no probs.......help!

in fact, its bugging me so much, I've taken some pics.

here is a birds eye view of where the main rod needs to go. you can see the selector rods are aligned and the convex spacer washers are in place, centrally.

here is the main rod. you can see the selector pin.

when you put the main rod in place, it wont go all the way home. it goes in until the selector pin meets the first convex washer down....
Posted Image

this means this end-cap wont fit - you can compress it a little but it forces the gear lever to be permatnly over to one side....not good.

so, HELP, before I actually go crazy!!!

i have the shift rods aligned, as i can get my spare, bare, main rod fully home.
problem seems to be setting the selector pin (47) though the spacer washers (71).
its driving me nuts........!

are both 71 aligned right as they only have to be out by a mm to stop the rod going all the way through, its a fidly job unfortunatly, i just used a screwdriver to centre them and got lucky after a while

i am pretty sure they are aligned as my spare rod (without selector pin) seats fully.
it seems to be the selector pin thats causing the problem....
