Just went outside to find the rear of the 16v sat on it's ar$e and a pool of hydraulic fluid under the rear nearside It's too dark now to fully investigate but from what i could see, the strut is soaked as is the bottom arm. I just hope its only the olive connection or a leaky pipe. It drove fine today. Feckin speed bumps :C |

Just been out with the torch. It looks like its either the olive connection on the strut, or the strut its self. I'm taking it up to my mech to get it up on his ramps in the morning for a proper inspection. |

Its the side i recently replaced. But i have a confession to make, it was a secondhand unit!!! It looked absolutely mint and was from a low mileage car. But i suppose you never know with secondhand stuff The one on the other side was replaced with a brand new one from ECP. Edited by stwat, Tue Sep 15, 2009 8:32 pm.

I think you are right, Nick. The amount of fluid that has leaked out as it has been stood and the amount covering the strut, leads me to think it's the internal seals But i'l son find out in the morning.Looks like that's another £175 thrown at the SLS system! I could have fitted a lowered sports kit all round a few times over by now with the cash i will have spent back there. But to be honest, that's not my bag and i'd much rather have the car as standard as possible Call me stupid, i don't care and quite agree with you but there is something about this car that has turned me into a standard freak

Springs are around £120 a pair from MB. Ignore me though mate. For some reason i have decided to go down the standard route with this car. It's the first car i have ever done this with but i feel it deserves it

Oh lordy my shell is far from mint It needs one of the rear arches sorting and both front wings are rusting at the front. The underside has a few rusty spots but thankfully, my rear parcel shelf and under the rear window looks mint. So it needs a fair bit of work done shell wise. But i intend to keep this car for many years to come so id rather keep it standard and go through the car bit by bit, a little at a time untill i end up with a standard minter because in years to come, the nice standard cars is where the money is going to be. But im not doing it just for the money. It's more for personal satisfaction |

Thought i'd better update. The new strut came this morning. Great service from ECP. At least they can actually do one thing correctly! And it was the correct part too It took me about an hour to fit it, what with moving my 2.6 off the drive(which hadnt been started for weeks but fired up first turn )and searching around for tools etc. So all is now well again with the SLS ![]() God i love this car
