Hi

Recently I added power steering fluid to the pump and covered it and screwed tightly. Withing 24 hours i observed the steering was too hard to turn on either side. Later on i opened the power steering pump and to my surprise it was empty. I saw the lower portion of floor and i saw some oil spillage on the ground. I went to technician and he told power steering hose is leaking.
Technician was trying to rip me off too much money so I decided to return back to this forum for some fix. Please let me know how to fix this issue. Can I replace the rubber hose myself ?.....or if anyone can give me steps and if possible with pictures, it will be appreciable. cheers..!!

I have Mercedes 190E 1986 model with automatic transmission. I searched ebay and other websites and I got lot of rubber hoses for power steering specially for 190E and 190 D models. Thanks

Thanks

If you have got the hose its a fairly straight forward job.

Hi.... Today I got the power steering hose and fixed it in the car, it was simple. But again i have same problem in car. When im trying to turn the steering there is some noise and I know this noise goes away when I fill the power steering fluid to top level.
I am sure again there is some leakage and now i have verified there is no issue with hoses.

What else can be issue?

Thanks

It may require bleeding, jack the front of the car up and with the engine running cycle the steering from lock to lock to clear any air from the disturbed lines.
