should the revs drop when the car is put into drive, i thought some system would up the revs under load?? mine doesnt and its annoying me lol

They do tend to drop a bit but not enough to stall the engine, but it's only momentarily. |

nah they drop bout 300/400 revs and stay dropped, summats def not rite..changed the box recently and it didnt make any difference so thinkin summat electrical.. obviousey all the bits on the box were changed too..so could it be the ecu or summat like it??? summats not quite rite anyway hopin some genius on here could suggest sumething!! have ploughed through the different topics and so far no good.. |

The revs do drop momentarily, then the Idle Control Valve compensates and evens the RPM out. Or it should do. Try cleaning the ICV with some carb cleaner as they tend to get bunged up with oil residue and dirt over the years. |

the whole engine and associated parts have been removed and cleaned and i mean all. could it be faulty i wonder..will have to try gettin hold of another and swap it and see,, cheers matey

yeah im assumin this is the case , its been like it for ages though and like i say, ive changed the box etc so its nothing on there,,, will double check the idle control valve anyway, keep me busy..id sell the bloody thing if i hadnt spent so much on the rebuild ..get a nive valver, gonna finish this one first though.. |

I will check tomorrow but I think mine stay lower in D, in fact I am pretty sure they do. I reckon it drops about 200 and stays there. Thats on both my autos. It may dip lower (ie 300) and recover a bit but it definitely remains at a higher constant when in N than in D. Neither are guaranteed to be correct but they work for me. |

i'll check the idle control valve and algord is very kindly fetching his 2.0 for me to peek at for the vacuum pipes, will be ijteresting to see how much of a cock up i've made with them, rebuilt the whole bloody engine and cant put the vac hoses back right, wat a dipstick haha.. cheers for all the help guys, as ever this forum is always full of people willing to help out..will have to try get on here more often and mebbe post any pics of things i've rebuilt too.. |

Just to confirm, my veggie idles at about 600 in N, when I put it into D it drops pretty much straight to 500 and stays there. When I go back to N it raises back up , slightly overshoots then settles to 600 again. |

mine drops way more than that, its definately not right somewhere,,, oh well time and patience will fix it eventually..running out of parts to change now so nearly there

after all the mentions earlier i only realised i don't have an idle control vavle on my old 190.. i have an auxillary air device.. so different a set up to the newer models..will have to investigate further? |
