it's saying light showers for sunday now! Is weather forecasting that difficult??? Is it just someone in BBC who flips a coin and decides what to publish?????

Meeting co-ordinates. Meet here (red circle), corner of Oldhill St N16 and Clapton Common. Try and avoid coming up Upper Clapton Road (aka The Murder Mile) as it's very congested. If you're coming from the south then better to feed into the A10 lower down around Hoxton and come up through Stoke Newington. No problems coming from West side (Finsbury Park, Highgate, etc) but if you're coming from East then better possibly to come via Tottenham way/North Circular. Much of my street is now being dug up so blocked off. However, there should be plenty of room at the top of Oldhill St (about 100 yards from where I live) next to St Thomas' Church (big white church) opposite Clapton Common. There will be a Sunday service taking place and probably plenty of Afro Caribbeans in exotic robes wandering around.

For food/drink we can drive down to the river (2 minutes away) which edges Springfield Park as there's a good caff by the canal or go to the Spark Cafe (three minutes away) and join a load of brown rice-eating Guardian readers.

Hope all clear. My mobile is 07949 422 830. 12pm still?

Blimey. Straight through central London for me then; should be fun.

Should hopefully have the Merc on the road by then.

Depending on where you live Eddie, it might be better to take the North Circular up to Hampstead then criss-cross through Highgate/Crouch Hill/Finsbury Park/Stamford Hill...

I'm coming from Sanderstead (South Croydon). I'll have to investigate the route. Looking forward to it though, and learning about the car.

It will be my first journey in it other than when I bought the car; it has been sat on my Parents' drive since I bought it 2 weeks ago.

Are we gonna be working on the cars-should I bring tools?

Eddie - South Circ, Greenwich, Blackwall Tunnell, follow signs to Hackney/Lower Clapton/ drive through Homerton then up Lower Clapton Rd to Lea Bridge Roundabout then keep north up Upper Clapton Road... Arrive at GTG! My postcode is E59AA (more or less - I have three different post codes, very confusing). The GTG is on the lip of E5/N16 postcodes. But stick E59AA in your satnav and you should be more or less okay.

Yeah why not, bring anything you think we'll need. We're going to need a star bit which is something I don't have

I'll be bringing with me all I have which aint much! A small ratchet set, gloves and a tool box with a few screwdrivers and that.

We going to be changing your seals too Kenny?
I certainly wouldnt mind grabbing some but probably easier to fit them at home.

My brother may be coming too although his veggie 2.5d is currently off the road with a dead diff :(

Does anyone have a torque wrench? I havent got one and it might be useful when tightening the seals.

I supose Reza might have a diff available for your brother if he ends up breaking his 190d.

I have a torque wrench, I will stick it on my list of things I am hoping I wont forget. Its a mental list !!

Reza decided against it. I think his is auto too, the ratio is very different to my bro's manual.

i didnt buy back the 190d in the end. I didnt think Mindthepothole was able to store it and break it, and i have no space to store it either! So, it's sitting in some breakers yard at the moment!

Ok, was a bit worried that my viton o-rings wouldnt fit, so i went to merc and bought some originals to compare with! :'(

The merc ones are a bit larger, but if the vitons are stretched slightly, they will probably fit, as the actual o ring is thicker on the vitons.

Posted Image
While i was there i bought some copper washers that seemed to go somewhere below the o ring?

Also bought some heat shields for the injectors.

The part numbers of the parts i bought were:

6 X 601 017 00 60 - £1.30 each
6 X 004 997 45 40 - £0.50 each
6 X 017 997 41 48 - £0.40 each

I have big and small torque wrenches. I suspect tightening these o-rings will require the use of a small torque wrench, as the usual big ones don't have the range. I'll bring it along (if I can find it).
