jst removed the SLS shocks and spheres from the 16v. usually, i only remove the shocks and put a bolt in the sphere to block it off - this time I have removed the spheres so needed to block the lines that go to that - brake pipe style. i got some double ended female connectors, made up a grub screw for one end and sealed it in, the connected it to the end of the male union that previously went into the sphere - all good. or not. turns out one side leaks but its becuase the pipe is rotten a little further up, the movement from taking the sls out must have split it. ideally, i'd trace the pipe back to the sls valve and block it there, however, with the rear frame in its almost impossible to get to. i ended up cutting the rotten part off, leaving me with a 4inch run of stock brake pipe to seal. its the factory stuff so impossible to flare in situ.....strangely, its a metal pipe with a solid metal bar inside, i assume to stop it from kinking? how can i block this up? i tried some thin hose slid over clips but its still seeping - any suggestions? when the rear end comes out for the re build I'll strip away the SLS valve and cap the pipes property but i'm after a quick firx for now so i can drive the car.... |
