I just browsed through a lot of the pages in this section, sure that someone must have replaced the normal 5-speed manual box (not very much liked as far as I can see) of their 1.8, 2.0 or 2.6 190 with a Getrag box from a 16V. But I can see no threads on it - just one where a 6-speed (from a W202 or W203) has been bolted onto an M102/M103 engine. Anyone tried and succeeded/failed? Are the Getrag ratios all wrong? Or is the lack of an overdrive top ratio the problem? I would have thought that it would be a natural change for someone with Sportline suspension to make for a more involving drive... |

Thanks. Presumably it's a simple swap at the engine but may need some propshaft/coupling swapping for transmission to the diff? Jeremy - does 'nowhere near completion' man that as yet, you've not been able to see if the Getrag ratios suit the 6-cylinder engine power delivery? |
