2.5-16 sls repair or removal question; also, lower arm bushes

I've taken my car in to the mechanic because i was pretty sure the accumulators were stuffed like my old one in australia (its gone super bouncy/crashy over potholes etc) and while iw as right about the accumulators, the mechanic told me the pipework for them is really badly corroded and needs changing. now he said that one set of pipework looks to be simple brake hoses which he can replace easily, he's more worried about the smaller ones going form the accumulators to the shocks, and i was wondering where i i can source these and if anyone has part numbers?

also, on my last MOT the bushes on the rear end (lower arm bushes i think) were an advisory and mechanic has told me they look pretty perished and should be an easy job, so i figured while its up in the air ill get them done, can anyone furnish me with part no's etc? because ive got no idea.

Third question is this, worst case scenario, i change the accumulators and the sls is still shagged...rather than spend more money, can i replace the hydraulics with normal shocks? i know the 2.5-16 is a pain with this because you need to bridge the system due to the ASD, does anyone have details on this? Is it particularly easy/worthwhile? or if it comes to that should i just persever and fix the SLS?

thanks in advance,

Vaggeli

oh, another thing to add is that my asd light is on...i figured this was due to accumulators...or am i looking at more serious problems? asd seems to work and theres no whine from the diff etc...

also, the car is definitely still self levelling, it was loaded up to capacity a week ago moving house and the rear end was riding high enough, just mega bouncy

another thing lol...the ride seems to get better after i take the car for a decent drive, like, the roads around my house are terrible, but when returning home its not as bouncy as when i left, still crap... but better

ok...just spoke to mechanic again and hes at a bit of a loss, because the boshes are only worn on the front tracking arm on each side of the rear...and i just spoke to gsf and they only sell complete arms including bushes...which is a bit annoying. any ideas?

Replace them, they're not very expensive and it's easier to change the arm rather thans just the bush.

Replace all your rear arms. The SLS pipes can be had from mercedes. If the light for the ASD is on then its not working and there's a fault. As for the SLS its a fantastic system and pretty simple. Promblem is people dont undestand it and think the best thing to do it too rip it out. Your best way to check the pump and all is working it to take it to a garage and get them to adjust the vavle/switch and see if the car rises and sinks or put some weight in the boot and start the engine.

I think you can do a test somehow and you count the number of times ASD triangle flashes and you look at a list and match the number and it gives you the fault.

got it, take alook at this http://s14.zetaboards.com/mercedes_190_club/topic/6530483/1/ :D

If you have no intention of using it for track days, id say repair it.

Ok, ive sourced a bunch of bits and its getting the work done on wednesday, ive got the two accumulators, the (ridiculously expensive) complicated looking pipes that go from the accumulators to the shocks, ive got the two suspension arms that need bushes complete with bushes, and all up it cost me 150 pounds with all the parts being brand new and only ones that arent genuine mercedes are the accumulators (lemforder ones from GSF).

Pretty much does anyone think ive missed anything?

Vaggeli

PS: the other hydraulic pipework will be done by the mechanic from brake lines.

Sounds good glad it wasn't too expensive. Have to change SLS valve on mine and I think due to the colour of the fluid the seals on the pump.
