I'm not sure which is which though, tbh!

What follows are two of the most exhilarating recorded laps of the Nurburgring Nordschleife I've ever seen.

We have a Caterham R500 versus a Porsche 996 GT2, on a private trackday.
Other club-members on the circuit, they get passed by these two as if they're parked.

Hold onto your hats, this ride is best appreciated in full screen with sound on...

Lap 1:

Lap 2:

If you only have time to watch one vid, I would recommend Lap 2.
Balls well and truly out.

What an awesome video! B)

I don't know if it's the car / the driver / the 'chuckability' factor.... but the Porsche seems pretty poor in the corners compared to the Caterham! Rapid in the straight lines but not as great as i expected in the corners?

Caterham is a quality car though and driver clearly has no fear!

P.S. Did I read "UK Mercman Woz Ere" on one of the armcos around 3km in...? May have just been my eyes playing up? ;) ;) :P :P  B)

P.P.S. In the second video, did the Caterham driver give an 'Ali-G Style' finger-snap at 0:21s in? Brilliant!

V, to be fair the Caterham is kicking out 263bhp, and weighs an astonishingly low 506kg.
The Porsche has 475bhp, but weighs in at a practically lardy 1430kg.

In my view, the 911 did damn well to stay in sight of the Caterham - anyone who can watch these vids (below is Lap 2, from the Porsche driver's cockpit)
and then argue that the 911 has its engine 'in the wrong place', is on crack.
End of!

Guess that would be the 'chuckability' factor as I first guessed. Fair enough really... just felt that the Porker could have demonstrated some ass-out action like the Caterham was.

The R500's appearance around the TG track told me all I needed to know about how incredible those cars are, just epic.
