Hi guys,
The car has developed a leak I think it is around the gearbox, and the oil has run on the underside of the car from the cat to about the middle of the back door. Also when I got home yeaterday smoke was coming off the cat becasue I think oil was leaking onto it and burning.
Where could the leak be coming from?
Thanks

When I had a similar problem it turned out to be the sump gasket. Tracked it down by cleaning all oil off the sump so it was clean. Going for half hour drive and having another look. I was using a bit of engine oil so it was clearly not the gear box in my case. you will need to check you oil levels first to see where the oil is going from. That should give you a clue

You should check if it's engine oil or ATF from the gearbox, if you haven't changed the ATF for a while the smell of it should be a give away! Of course any leak from engine/gearbox will be blown to the back as you drive along. Checking the levels should help as well.

Thanks guys, I think its ATF because there is plenty of engine oil in there, I remember being told that the rear main seal might have a slight leak is that a big job?
