Hi guys. Do any of you have problems with your exhaust scraping the floor going over speed bumps or going up/down multi-story carparks? Mine does and I know the middle box needs replacing or poss re fitting. I would ideally like a de cat and maybe the mid box removed or at least a smaller one fitted so its not too loud |

It is probably the CAT scrapping mate not the middle box. Middle box is just at the front of rear sub-frame and it has enough clearance from the ground. I have same problem with mine and I managed to brake the cat, which I have to replace before my next MOT. The only fix I can see is to change to thicker pads front and rear while keeping the rest of the suspension as is now. You also need to check the exhaust bracket on gearbox. Mine needs replacing. I mean the rubber pads for the springs and they are available from the dealership. You have to check what is the thickness of the existing pads so that you order the next size up. For details on pad thickness check the suspension section in the forum. |

i'll try the merc scrapper up the road to me 1st. Thanks. Why do mercs have them? Why not just harder springs in 1st place? Only ever seen what I think they are from the likes of demon tweaks for saggy springs |

My car is very low at the front but I rarely get the exhaust hitting, yours may be hanging too low. I dont have a cat though so that may hang lower ? |

its down 60mm but no idea on the pad things if they are on it still. I know the tyres are the wrong profile. I'm on 18"s by the way. Previous owner and me swapping the wheels back over but keeping tyres and maybe putting original springs back on |

I use an 40mm lowering kit but the rear was measured to be 35mm and the front 40mm but that was compared to the sportline version on a laser tracking machine. I believe that total lowering is in the range of 50mm compared to a stock car. I use 13mm pads for rear and 8mm for front springs. I will soon change them to 13 front and 18 or 23 rear. as I need to sort toe angle issues for the front and get rid of rubbing at the front which developed for about 6 months now when at full lock or over speed bumps. My wheels are standard 15" on 185/65 tyres, but i ll move on 205/50/16 whithin the next 2 months Edited by alogaparaloga, Thu Nov 19, 2009 11:40 pm.

Ahh cool. I still need to check the spring pads on mine. If they are the biggest il get the 13's and 40mm lowering springs. I'm still tempted to cut 2 or 3 coils off the current set up. |

mines really low! the part of exhaust that scrapes the most is the rear part that goes across the back under the diff. its actually caught and pulled the front pipe off of the manifold before now lol! |
