I need to get some top mounts asap, as my car is having them fitted next Thursday!! Priced the genuine ones and I'm frankly shocked at the price - £90+ each!!! However, the specialist (190 driver for years!) said that he finds most non-genuine suspension parts are rubbish!! Also, I have had pattern parts(wishbones) fitted to my previous car (beemer) and they were utterly, utterly rubbish.(I know it's a different part here, but it's the fact that one crucial part can make a noticeable difference) As the guy tells me they are actually one of the most important elements to how the whole front suspension works/feels, I don't want to get the Europarts/GSF equivalents only to find they are totally crap!!! Any feedback greatly appreciated!! |

I have used GSF on two cars and have had no problems. and given they are less than £17 each and 15 minutes work to change I would use them without hesitation. |

The part I mentioned is correct, the price may not be if you say they're £34 quid or thereabouts. So, I'm checking with the guy I know in the parts department to see if we've got our wires crossed. He sent an expanded picture, so we're definitely talking about the correct part. I may just fit the GSF parts if they're o.k. |

I had the strut top mounts changed, for genuine MB ones, yesterday and the difference is literally unbelievable, just incredible!!! The drive is now really taut and the steering has much greater feel. Even the turn-in is better and not only has the crashing into bumps gone, but the vibration/pulsing through the steering at low speeds has also gone; so the wheel wobble at motorway speeds will probably (hopefully) have gone too. Anyone with a front end stability problem should have the mounts checked, as they are a vital part to how the whole front suspension functions! |

If the top mounts haven't been changed recently , or in living memory , then it is without doubt the single best improvement you can possibly make to handling , Jeremy |

Jeremy, having sampled it before an after, particularly on the basis that other suspension components are perhaps not quite at their best at the moment, I have to say that I quite agree. I just can't believe that the last owner spent a fortune on 18" split rims, rolled the front wing lips to accommodate them (Super job though!!), replaced the shocks/springs (amongst other items), but yet didn't think that there was something amiss . He must have thought that 18" wheels and Eibach springs would make it ride like it had absolutely no suspension, so accepted the trade off. It must have been awful, because the mounts were completely knackered - compressed, split and generally perished!!! |
