Im gettin 16x9 wheels with a 205/40 tyre does anyone know if a 60/40 drop would be about right or would it need to be lower

I think you will have problems with that combo Alex, especially with a 60mm drop at the front. Using that size tyre will help though. You will possibly get rubbing at the leading edge of the front wings (above where it meets the bumper). Rolling the front arches might be required, or maybe one of the AMG wing spacer kits.
A few of the guys on here are running the 8X16 Evo 1 alloys and a few have had problems, even with a 40mm drop.
Offset is important too, the Evo 1 wheel is about 34 I think, what's the offset of the wheels you're using?

im not worried about it rubbing, just wanted to know what sort of level the arch would sit above the tyre i dont want to buy the kit and then there be a big gap between the arch and tyre the maximum gap i want has to be within an inch
