Normally a sign that the clutch is worn and might need replacing.

How many miles has the car done ?

hmm the pedal is reasonably high.. is not slipping at all tho. its done 83000 just. if i pull away on a hill or something where the clutch is under quite alot of strain, it judders very slightly.

Well slipping is not the only sign of a worn clutch.

You can also get a dragging clutch. I think this is caused by the clutch not disengaging properly.

I think that juddering is also a sign of a worn clutch.Do you have a garage you can get to have a look at it for you,he should be able to tell you if its a worn clutch, but it does sound like it to me.

oh yes, the clutch pedal seems to have a habit of sticking down everynow and again. when it does if i press it down, nothing happnes. i have to lift it back up with my foot.

there are garages about, but i tend to do most stuff myself. there is an inpection hole somewhere isnt there??

This would indicate that the seals in the clutch slave cylinder are on their way out. My Dads' old 190E did exactly the same thing. It might worth checking the master cylinder to see if any fluid is being lost.

I can't remember the exact details - he sold the car in 1996 - but I do know that he replaced the complete clutch slave cylinder and it fixed the problem.
