i believe my master cylinder seals have gone as my pedal is sticking down sometimes and the clutch is dragging slightly.

is the master cylinder a sealed unit? ie. can i replace just the seals or will i have to replace the whole unit?

you can but its not really economically viable as any contamination or corrosion on the bore will tear your new seals. A new master cylinder will cost around £30-£45.

To make the job a lot easier you may want to modify a socket as its a fiddly job.

yes, I cant remember if its a 10mm or 13mm but what you have to do is either grind the socket part down so its shallower and then grind flats onto the outside or cut the socket part off and TIG weld it to a nut. it makes it much easier.

hmm right ok mate, should i get some spare bolts too, sounds like it rounding risk central! euro car parts say its £70 odd, are MB best place to go?? i found somewhere selling one for 45 but they had 2 different bore sizes. at a guessed mine would be the smaller one?

i got a master and slave cylinder for 60 all in.. i looked at the master cylinder and cried it looks that awkward to do! so i did the slave and the problem still exists to il tackle the master as soon as i can. definately need to make that tool. i had to hack one apart and bend it to get the slave off and on! that was probably just as awkward!
