On Saturday my 190e died !

Well, not completely, but it failed to start and it's always been as good as gold !

Brief history; Main feed to fusebox broke on wednesday night and killed the car electrics completely. (due to the 2.5KW stereo over heating the main cables, melting the insulation off and the exposed copper corroding through ! )

Alternator main charging cables have been replaced and main feed from fusebox to battery replaced with 110amp capacity cable on thursday and all was well !

Car stood until saturday when she failed to start.

It turns over fine and occasionally fires but will not run. Car stinks of petrol when cranking and some vapour comes out exhaust, so i rekon the fuel is getting in there ok.

I've checked the coil for continuity and replaced the rotor arm cos i thought that had a rather high resistance. Plugs, leads and dizzy cap were replaced about 18months ago.

Only thing left i can think of is the ignition control module ??

Anyone got any other ideas ?

try the OVP relay..........alot of systems go through this, and they are quite femur and tempremental, they also have a fuse on top of them.the only thing is,these can give the appearance of working properly, but bnot actually doing so

hi chap

have you checked for a spark at the plugs ?

if its flooded it may have fouled them up

my refused to start with an old problem when it flooded it, had to cook them to get it to run (overfueling issue back then)

It turns out that the problem is a cold starting reated problem.
Now that the weather has warmed up it has come back to life and starts, but runs like a sack of **insert swear word here** until it's warmed up and then runs properly.

It's currently at the local garage having a tune up and find out which sensor has failed or if it's the cold start injector !

I'll keep you posted, but she'll probably be up for sale when it's all sorted.

Probably a 'cold joint' in the OVP Relay.

Check the wires and connectors to the temp sender. And also the temp sender pins themselves. It's quite common for the wires to crack which then sends duff signals to the Ke-Jet ECU.

UKmerctechie told me about this issue and i found that both my temp sender connector had split wires. I soldered on some new connectors and the car has been running brilliantly since. It's like a totally different car B)
