i think it could be your rev counter.

No I don't think it is the 'Rev Counter, it is the 'Hall Sensor' that you need for different things that pick up the speed of your car for the OTG for instance.

And the Auto box etc.

My car had no tempomat/ASD/auto tranny and so, only ABS from factory.

I was reading on another german forum that they were standard fitting to all 'After facelift' models, but I don't know to be certain. I'm not sure whether it is a requirement for ABS but it is a requirement for most things where the controler of such things need to be regulated in conjunction with the roadspeed.
