Well lads. I was jump-starting a bike today when I asked someone to remove the leads from the bike battery after it started. Unfortunatey he touched the two leads together. Big spark etc and the car cut out. Windows etc are working but the engine will not turn. Obviously there is a fuse blown etc. somewhere. All fuses in the fusebox are fine, the 10A fuse on the OVP is fine. Am I missing any main inline fuses here. Or perhaps its after blowing the ovp. I thought the car should still start with the ovp faulty.... I am getting 12v across the battery terminals. I then tried jumping the battery with another fully charged one with no joy. Any help much appreciated as the car really is in a rather inconvienient place

If you're 100% that the OVP fuse is Ok and making good contact by taking it out and cleaning the contacts, It might be possible that that you've blown the OVP, there might be a 'Dry Joint' opened up. Have a look at kentronix pinned item above on how to spot it. Edited by balamb37, Sun Feb 7, 2010 11:05 pm.

Yes the ovp fuse is okay. I better open the relay tomorrow and have a look at it. A bit daunting to be honest. I wouldnt mind so much if the car was stuck outside my place but its not... Is there a 'main' fuse anywhere that could be blown? Any other idea's? |

Make sure the battery terminals are clean and tight battery earth is good. If the engine wont crank forget the ovp relay the main feed to the starter is hard wired, the 12v to the start solenoid is via the ignition switch. |
