Household bleach. Let it soak over night in a strong mix.

Mixture of bleach and water, wont harm it at all. Or just go and buy a new one. Cheap as chips from the dealers.

Clean it, and spend the £20+ that a new one costs on something more important.
Like Engine Oil ;)

With my Coolant Expansion Reservoir, I decided I preferred a cleansed original.
I decided the Dishwasher wouldn't get far enough into the compartments, so opted to fill it up with a mix of Water and Viakal (Limescale Remover) taking care not to leave the mixture in contact with all the copper plug connections.
Left it for about 4 hours.
Came out much cleaner than it was, and good enough for me.
The crap inside was Limescale, and I dare say the Windscreen Washer reservoir has a more open structure than the Coolant one so a spin in the Dishwasher might do the trick on its own.
