Hi All, I've recently (a couple of months ago) had my gearbox and diff oils changed. Lovely beautiful smooth change and less diff whine! Recently first to second has become a bit graunchy, but only when cold. Do you think it's low on fluid or is there another problem looming? |

Manuual or auto? Possibly just the cold tempretures thickening the oil. My 2.0 Mannual) was a bit like that when it was very cold , soon cured with a few mins of driving. Edited by Rich27, Sun Feb 14, 2010 7:28 pm.

Any suspicious puddles of fluid on the ground where you park the car? |

No more than the usual melting frost. Might take a closer look to make sure though! |

When was the clutch last done? Change better up the range or down? |

I was thinking this myself, after researching on here a little. I think it was done a 4-5 years ago before we bought the car. Will dig out the receipts. The strange part is that it gets better as the car warms up...? |

That's not surprising, when you think about it as the gearbox oil works 100% better when warm/hot. Some cars are better than others. You can't do a thing with a David Brown transmission until it's really hot, for example and the Mercedes transmissions are little different. Very good gearboxes but semi-agricultural... |
