I have another drivers door, in the same colour, to replace my dented door. I bought it some time ago and it has a lock fitted. I want to remove that lock and replace it with the lock that I have successfully removed from my dented door. Trouble is, I don't have the key to fit the lock or the chassis number of the vehicle from which the door was taken. It doesn't matter if that lock is broken during its removal, but obviously I don't want to damage the door during removal. I've thought of drilling it out, (would that work?) or using a "Dremel" to cut part of it out. It would appear that you really do need a key? Your help, please? Thanks a lot.... David |

Unbolt the lock catch out of the door, remove door panel and rotate the lock catch until it releases from the door lock pin or just cut thru the door lock pin if you dont need the lock anymore. |

It is not possible to simply unbolt the lock catch to do this job because the catch has to rotate anti-clockwise and it can't because it hits the side of the door. This is a difficult job and I can imagine a few instances where the lock needs to be removed without an inserted key to turn.... key jammed/ snapped off in the lock, for example? So, here is how I did it :- I removed the allen screw holding the lock in place. I took out the three screws holding the lock catch and the screws positioning the vacuum door actuator. This allowed the lock catch to drop about two centimetres. I could then see the door lock operating-rod at the rear of the lock. I was able to insert a Dremel with a fibre-glass cutting disc through a small triangular opening in the door body and cut through the operating-rod. I was then able to remove the lock, which was not needed anyway. I hope that this might help someone in the future who might have this problem. |

You could always drill the lock out and turn it with a screw driver |
