The other day the sunroof on my 1984 190E started to make a nasty mechanical clicking noise when fully closed bit with the switch still pressed. It opens and closes perfectly (its an early 190 so the roof doesn't tilt) and theres no noise during closing or opening, only if you keep the button pressed when it reaches fully closed or if you press it while closed. Seems to come from about a foot back from the back edge of the roof opening and under the headlining, and sounds a bit like something spinning off a cog or slipping on a gear. Any ideas? |

Hi mate on the just slide sunroof, the motor will continue to spin if you keep the button depressed, and it has a clutch on the motor so you are not forcing the cable through after the roof is closed, The clicking noise might be due to the outer cable coming adrift inside the sun roof, The outer cable is bolted inside the headlining at the rear of the sunroof, and the inner cable pushes and pulls ,through a tube, If you go on search I am sure there is some old posts on the sunroof problams and cures
