Another stupid electric window problem.....

N/S/R window will not operate at all from the drivers console (although the child switch has an effect)

It will, however, go down using the switch on the door in the back. But it won't go up - I have to 'jump start' it.

These electric window and dash board light problems want to make me sell this car......... ^o)

Any help (or offers on the car............!)

Old switches can break quite easily, worth pulling the top off it to see, may only need contacts cleaning! ;)

Try lubricating the window runners if it's sticking, i used silicone spray on mine!

I had the exact same problem with my first 190. Taking the child lock switch and window switch from the gear surround and cleaning the contacts cured the problem for me.

The problem could be a broken pivot in the switch or a broken wire. This is common on the 190E

OK, cheers fellas - getting off home early (what am I saying, I'm a teacher...) to sort this problem.

Luckily I've got a couple of switches that I can clean up and swap around.
Hope the fantastic weather holds.

HiJack..lol...!!
I've fitted a new(second hand) set of window switches yesterday and I noticed last night that one of them(drvs rear) isnt illuminated and the switch is sloppy..??

are there bulbs in the switches themselves?? are they replaceable...can you repair the switches so they pivot properly..??

I remember taking the ones in the drivers console out - the whole thing comes apart and you can clean it all. (i think)

Just tried another switch - still no change!

At least I've sorted out the front passenger window (other post)

Might start on the dash lights tomorrow night instead.......

Yes there are bulbs inside the switches but I beleive they are soldered into position.

But seeing as you said that you have changed the switch and that is the same it could be the

lighting feed that is not in order.
