Borrowed , well er stolen from another forum ........ " Another mod you could try if you fancy... Apart from replacing the rubbers on the gearbox end of the change rods, if you go to a model aircraft shop and buy some thinwall brass tubing of a size that just slips over the rod diameter then Araldite a short length onto the cranked end of the rod they become a very tight fit into the rubbers and it really sharpens up the change. It's not that bad idea Jeremy. The problem is that the rubber is always rubber and it hardens and wears over time. For sure if you sleeve the rubber bushing the wear goes to the sleeve and not the rubber itself. If I have to bite the bullet and work on the gear linkage I will do it properly. So it will have to be shifter bushings from bronze but I would try to find some sort of boots to go around the linkage in order to protect bronze from road salt and dirt, Or I would go for PTFE bushings which is one of the best polymer bearing materials (self-lubricating) and due to its very good chemical resistance it can be exposed to salt etc with out problems. I am going to try the last option as I bought a PTFE rod to machine some bushings. |

hey alogaparaloga, can you take some piccies and sort out a walkthrough for doing this if possible please..I would be very interested to know how it's done correctly..!!
