Hi I have a 1991 190D 2.5. The rear door would open from the inside but not outside, after moving the childlock I now can't open the door from inside or out. How can I open the door? One thought was a slim hooked bar to pull or push the mechanism but where & how Help please Thanks J |

If no -one comes up with a better answer - pop the doorcard off and push the rod below the locking button up manually. Then with the door open, lubricate the door lock with WD40. Also check the vacuum connections for the central locking. The vacuum pump is beneath the rear seat squab on the driver's side. |

Hi The door locks & unlocks OK, just when you pull the handle, inner & outer nothing happens. Can you remove the inner door trim when its closed? J |

Oh No Mine somtimes refuses to open from outside, the pull handle can come off the tab on the mechanisum inside the door, (caused by my kids pulling the handle while tha car is being unlocked) also a dam good WD-40 up of the mechanisum can get it going again. Pull the red tabs up un the seat base to remove it so you have more room to get the doorcard off. Next time test the mechanisum by closing it onto the shaft of a screwdiver rather than closing the door. Edited by Rich27, Sat Mar 20, 2010 4:54 pm.

Am I the only one who secretly couldn't help but think 'lol'. I remember this happened to a friend of mine years and years back, a 'friend of a friend' tried to help with the classic sticking door handle and landed in the exact same pickle. Had to do as already said - pull the seat base out, remove the door card and open the door from inside. You'll never do it again ![]() Will |

Hi The door now opens, but still only from inside!! I managed to slide the door trim up enough to pull away at the top to reveal the mechanism. I managed by poking with a scewdriver, more luck than judgement, to flick the childlock switch and the door openned on the inner lever. I spent ages trying to see why the outer handle did not work, even removed the panel to look at the other door, but it looked the same couldn't see how it actually worked. Have given up and having a coffee. J |

I take it that the outside handels swing outwards when you pull them, if so then I would say the control rod inside the doors are off. |
