Slight technical with my 1992 190e. the rear doors wont open from the outside, but open no trouble from the inside.

It started with only 1 doing it, now they both do it.

Any ideas why & how i can fix it?

Thanks

Hi.
Mine did this it could be one of two things, the pull handle can come off the tab on the mechanisum inside the door, (caused by my kids pulling the handle while tha car is being unlocked), this is a doorcard off job (lift dont pull) and taking out the mechanisum and checking that the tab that goes into the handle is where it should be and straight.
But first try a dam good WD-40 up of the mechanisum this can get it going , open the door and lubricate, "Close" the door mechanisum onto the shaft of a screwdriver and see if it will then work properly.

They do unlock. Will take the door-card off over easter and have a look. Hopefully it's something simple

Mine did this the other day with both back doors, the car had been stood for a few months over winter and they would not open from outside so i opened them from inside no problem, shut them again and they would still wouldnt open from outside ,so i opened them from inside again, then fiddled with the catch mechanism on the door a bit(moved it up and down a few times ect.) and its been fine since! I think something had just got a bit sticky through lack of use ;)

They can siez up without use. So is worth opening them from time to time same with the windows especially if your the only one you uses the car.

ok it seems relevant so thought id post it in here.
in the process of changing the rear door.
i forgot that the door i fitted had the child lock on. :'(

now for some reason the door wont open from the outside.
i have noticed the spring that returns the outer door handle has come off.
but other that that i cant see why it wont open.

(the door card is off)

my doors stuck shut :ermm:

help!!!

edit: sorted now.turned out to be a jammed mechinism.i changed it and it works fine now.
had to brute force the door open with a long flat bladed screwdriver and a hammer mind
