mysterious light....

I have a light that seems to shine onto the area under the ashtray.
The bulb just seems to hang there at the end of its wire so I was wondering if it should be there or somewhere else.
Can't fine any reference to it in the Haynes manual.

Anyone shed any light on it? (I just realised what I typed there - sorry :P )

It clips into the back of the ashtray at the back of where the lighter is. Lights up your ash for you.

TBH I think it is more useful where it is at the moment!

yes this is tru, its supposed to illuminate the ashtray as u pull it open, it has no use as i dont smoke , and when i did smoke , i never use any ashtray in any of my cars, i always used t flick out the window. I always keep change in my ashtray. Like you said its more use where it lights up the under tray for those who dont run taxi consoles

I used to do that as well, when I smoked.
Once I threw a burning butt out of the window and the sod came back in down the neck of my shirt and burnt me on the chest.
That wasnt fun at 60mph on a dual carragway :o

I`ll show you the scars at retro ;)

sounds f*cked up mate, hope u had time to make a quick stop get out and rip ur shirt of like superman.
can have been pleasant, burning flesh and singeing hair.

trick is to wind window fully, hold the butt in between the thumb and index or second finger as ur trying to flick , put ur arm out the window, and behind ur self and flick it out , no way for it to fly back in unless u have back windows open. and i may sound stupuid for asking this, what is this rtro members keep banginf on about, is this the mother of all GTGs??

I had them in my old mini too due to rust.

To be fair on the old 2.0d I caused the holes by loading up too much booze on the boot floor on a booze cruise. Floor welds split.
