I am trying to fit a new cooling fan switch / sender. It is not possible to use a socket or ring spanner on it so I have been trying to use an open ended spanner

The problem is I cant get the spanner on it properly. The space is very tight and there is a sort of shield thing blocking access to it.

Does the shield thing come off, I cant see any way to remove it.I know that many of you have done this, am I doing something wrong ?

I'm pretty sure it's just a push fit into the rocker cover Mike.

It'll probably be a tight fit (as it was when it was new), but I guess old oil/dirt/heat etc might have stuck it in place even worse.

I think the sensor is a slightly odd size, 22mm or something. You should fit a new crush washer underneath it when installing the replacement :)

Yep the plastic ignition lead holder is just a slide down fit into a grove so to remove just slide it straight up.

Thanks Will and Barrie.

All done now with the new one in.It was pretty hard removing that thing, it was well and truly stuck.

Took a great deal of force to get the little stinker out. :P
