Great guide .Thank you. I am new to classics (and Mercedes) but have finally bought myself what I thought was great 190. Basic 1.8 manual 1991 but with 55K on clock and most history I thought must be fool proof. Problem is that 3 weeks into ownership I have already found a number of problems , not least being finding the rear seats wet. I cannot see any leak from the doors , and the seals appear dry. There is some pooling in the boot. Could this be the sunroof drainage pipes ((if so , how can I get to them)?) and / or rear screen ??
Also , heater making huge noise , and now beginning to fail ( as I have to keep it on full to clear the humidity).

Two mechanical niggles are v.poor fuel consumption (around 20 - 23 mpg) and real hesitation on both acceleration , but more recently even when at constant speed.

I'm hoping that these are the sort of things that many new owners of classic s find when they first purchase , but if someone could give me any directions (before I sob my way to Crewe Engines!!!) then all advice gratefully received.

Sounds a real moan , but truth is the Mercedes makes me smile every time i get in (and out). AJ
