I was told that by removing this relay thingy it could up the horsepower on my 2.3 16v by about 30bhp.

Doesn't sound right to me, what do you think?

Sorry Chris , for once you are wrong .

It's the intercooler blow-off connection for the super-turbo alignment by-pass valve .

30 bhp at least .

Ofcourse then there is the jubilee clip that holds the overflow pipe to the expansion tank if you back that off quater of a turn you can increase air and fuel flow simultaneously hence increasing horsepower by up to 50BHP lmao lmao lmao lmao

Jeremy It makes me wonder to this day why you bothered with the 3.6 conversion when you could have just done this explain your self lmao lmao

Just kidding Rob I gues it must be that Friday feeling. ;) I know what you mean though early morning calls are often muddled I always need that first hour to actually wake up I am a bit like a old diesel :Z from this to this :S take two strong coffees and no overly loud noises

Would be nice if it did do that!

I'm sure I've read before that adjusting the EZL knob can increase your BHP (or decrease it!) a bit although I think it's linked with the timing so not something I'd ever mess with.

A good service and the correct spark plugs certainly livened mine up a bit since I bought it. I also fitted Magnecor ignition leads which may or may not have helped.

The EZL just advances or retards the timing to enable the car to run on varying grades of Fuel.

Mercs should be run on premium 97RON + ie super unleaded so the dial should be turned to the S marker and then if being run on anything less that 97RON ie normal unleaded being 95RON in the UK you should turn the EZL dial to the N position but accord to the Mercedes manuals you should only run your Mercedes on normal unleaded for a short time period.

this taken in to consideration if you run the car on super with the EZL correctly set the car will naturally feel more spritely :)

Given todays fuel prices I am not convinced many of you who run a daily driver would be using Super unleaded. ;)

That's right Benzsc, BUT the Merc manual here is only a translation from Germany and Normal in Germany is 92 Roz(n) and their Super is 95 Roz(n) and their what we call super is Supreme and according from which tankstation you buy can be 97 to 99 Roz(n) In which case only then should you switch the EZL to 'S'

So by MB you should be running on 95Roz(n) in the 'N' positon. ;)
