volcanic ash; on car

ive just washed my car and im pretty certain its volcanic ash on it, it looks like small patchs of glue, its on the bonnet boot and roof not the sides how do i get it off, the car still has a good shine to it other than this

My first instinct would be to try a detailing Clay + Lubricant on it.
Pretty much designed for this job.

I'm only really here for the Kitchens

After washing mine (started very carefully with 2 pressure washes to remove any grit), although its come up great if I run my finger along it I can feel small bits stuck to it. I will reserve judjment until after a couple more washes, it may just be a parked under a sappy tree but its not something I have seen quite the same before.

thanks for the advice ken and neil, my car hasnt been parked near any trees for months so its not tree sap although it looks like it, where can i buy detailing clay + lubricant could i use a fine cutting compound

I can recommend Meguiars Quik Clay bar and lubricant. The clay bar is only small but used with the spray that comes in the box it seems to remove everything without getting too agressive. Give the car a wash first. You can get it from most Halfords.
