Hi all, 1987 2.5D The car is a recent acquisition and in quite good condition. The car had an auto rebuild c.10000Km ago, but has been standing the last two years. So a complete fluid change (diff, trans, engine, steering; coolant to go) occurred yesterday (so I know what is in the trans at least). Changing the auto fluid yesterday (Castrol Transmax M), following the protocol as I understand it (below), it only drained out 2.5L, although the dipstick previously showed the showed the level slightly overfull. The Owners Manual and other references indicates 5.5L fluid change, and 6.6L initial fill. What am I not doing? I expected to replace 5.5L. Putting in 4L was clearly overfull, and required draining again, and a final re-fill of only 2L << select through all gears, giving it time to engage, BEFORE taking it back to P and checking the fluid level. Engine and box up to temp, select 'P', level ground, ,engine running, pulled stick, wipe, re-dip, check select through all gears, giving it time to engage, BEFORE taking it back to P and checking the fluid level. >> Chris Edited by cortical, Sun May 9, 2010 10:32 am.
