Hi, some of you may know that my 190 is driving me nuts.Hawkins and Shepherd of Derby,a very reputable garage have told me to get rid of my car because it`s not worth repairing.I know Fred was only thinking of my wallet when he gave that piece of advice. He diagnosed a faulty fuel injection distributor. I `ve just discovered that i can get hold of a replacement diaphragm for the distributor.Does anyone know whether renewing the diaphragm will yield any worthwhile improvements? The symptoms on my car are hesitation when moving from standstill.Everything is alright until the engine gets hot,at this point the car starts running lean. I have been advised by another memeber to overdose on redex, spray throttle assembly with wd40-thanks Crazyhorse-will do that from today. However if the redex or diaphragm isn`t going to cure it it will sell the car.I have been offered £350 by a local back street garage. Must say that this is most annoying. This 1.8 is my sixth 190 and though it`s the only facelift mdel i`ve owned it`s also the most troublesome. My first was a fully loaded black B reg 2 litre auto, second up was an E reg 2 litre auto, then came the two 2 litre diesels( should have kept hold of one) i`ve also had a B reg 2 litre carb` manual, lovely pastel green( thistle green i think). So there you have it,i do love 190s and i thought i had found the one to keep and pass onto my son but at this rate i`ll be passing it onto the local garage and keeping my two Audis and two Gtis http://z2.ifrm.com/11550/153/0/e5002163//e5002163.gif

Can't say if the diapraghm will cure your car, but it did mine ! Do you know that it is split ? I got a complete fuel head and diapragm for just 50 notes so it could be worth doing |
