I have a 1992 1.8 manual , which I've been told it needs a clutch , it hasn't gone , but I sometimes hear a click when depressing the clutch .
I have been told by my local garage its the thrust bearing thats clicking , and you might as well replace the whole lot .
Has anyone had that problem ? and was it the thrust bearing ?
Any advice to do the job would be most welcome , my hubby is a m/cycle mechanic so he has some knowledge .
Cheers guy's !!

TBH apart from owning a 2.3-16 190e All the other 190's actually mercs come to think of it have been automatics.

However I cannot see the job being difficult at all (Main bulk of the job is removing the propshaft and then undo the gearbox mounts and any connected ancilleries.

I would advise that you replace the whole clutch as if you take the gearbox out it will be false economy to just replace the release bearing.

Hope that helps a little?? ;)

If it's the clutch that's gone and sounds like it from you post (which will go at some stage) you should have a clutch kit fitted which includes the thrust bearing. Not a big job, something like 3.5hrs labour plus parts, get the gearbox oil changed too while you at it and have the garage inspect the gear linkages.

Its straight forward unless the spigot bearing has collapsed. Then it becomes an epic.

i done mine with no probs at all!
Its probably the most simplest clutch change that ive ever done.
If your doing it at home tho you need to get the car quite high off of the floor!
Remember not to use ramps at the rear because you then wont be able to turn the prop to get to all the bolts! good luck and if you need anything else let us know!
