I cant help it. It's such a back to basics car and a joy to work on. Getting it up and running has been very enjoyable and rewarding Il let you change the rear axle oil if you want

I had one of these myself back in 1970 .The second car i owned ,the first being a Standard 10 .the back springs came through the floor both sides ,so i had to stick a 8 inch square steel plate over the holes ,didnt weld them on ,too expensive ,just rested them between the springs and the floor !! .,but a brilliant engine .Think they carried on making the cars ,and the panels in India .VERY easy to work on ,not like to-days stuff . Bought a Marina estate later ,steering as stiff as hell ,fitted good secondhand trunnions ,and it was light as a feather turning corners .....the good old days !!

A few pictures i took the other day from it's first drive in over 8 years It was only a short gentle drive to assess how it drove in readiness for its MOT. It drove absolutely spot on and i was very impressed indeed Yes the bonnet is popped open here as i'd pulled in to check the fluids etc out. ![]() The hub caps were off being polished with Autosol by James and now look amazing ![]() James really has found a pearler here

Took it for an MOT today, its failed on front brakes, front brake inbalance and handbrake. Not too bad to say shes been stood for 8 years. Over the last few weeks i have restored the floor pans and sills which had some surface rust and also the boot. I will post some pictures when i get time. |

He did indeed sell the moggie, James. It didn't take long to sell at all. The landy (not owned by James himself) ended up (after lots of work) sitting doing nothing and then the owner decided he didn't want to continue with the resto and asked us to sell it for him for peanuts. We did have lots of fun whilst we were working on it though, regularly taking it out on the green lanes around Derbyshire and putting it through it's paces It made me realise just how much I moss my Range Rover

I missed this entire thread. Brilliant, brilliant cars. My grandmother used to have one and when I showed her what a four-wheel drift was, she shed twenty years. Happy days. I think the next thing Alec Issigonis went on to do was the Mini... |

Yes,very good cars.In my opinion much better than the VW Beatle.Sadly, the car buying public seemed to prefer the Beatle. |

What surprised me was just how brilliant it was to drive for such a vintage car. Great handling and certainly not underpowered. Lovely light responsive steering and a nice gear change. I could easily have one as an every day car and thoroughly enjoy every minute of it. |
