Starting problems :(; 1990 2.5-16V

Hey guys, my first post on this account but I was a regular user a while back. Basically, my 1990 2.5-16v still has a starting problem. From cold, first crack the car starts fine after between 2-4 seconds, and ticks over rock steady. After turning it off, if you re-start it again immediately it will start and run fine, but if you leave it switched off for any more than 5 minutes once mildly warm, it will not start unless cranked for 15-20 seconds and with a sniff of throttle. I am unsure whether this could be a problem with the injectors? It was worse initially but I replaced the cold start switch and this has improved matters from cold. Any help greatly appreciated, thanks guys.

Ok great thanks, how would i find out whether the temperature switch was faulty? Would i have to buy a new one and fit it? It's really frustrating as not many places I know of have the diagnostics equipment to service the injection systems on these 190e engines...

Cheers, Chuck

ok im not that clued up on the figures so i wont confuse things by saying info that may be wrong

but its mounted at the front of the block and you will ba able to take a resistance reading from cold to hot but i dont know these figures

be warned if its gone they are not cheap ! (for a sender) think i paid around £60 from mercedes (only to find out mine was ok) so i still have the old one should you find out yours is the problem
but dont do what i did and cange parts because someone says it will be that bit untill you have actually tested them, i learn the hard way

Haha! Always the way! The cost doesn't bother me too much, i'd just love to have it running perfectly because then I could stand to use it everyday :D

I have bought a temp sender & a thermo fan switch within the last two weeks, both cost me £28 each from PW Europarts in Halesowen. Another good place to look is German Ebay (Ebay.de), lots of new ones for sale on there & cheaper than what I payed. I bought a 2nd hand OVP relay off a seller on there last week & it was with me within 4 days. Best to search in German though (use Google translator if you don't speak the language) !

Check the wires and connections to the temp sender. The wires can break over time which then messes up the signals to the ECU.
