I picked this up today I have always liked the W123 models and this came up in a way to good to miss out on.

Basically its been in the same family from new on the log book I am the third owner its in a pretty rare colour and being garaged all its life and maintained to a high standard both mechanically and body wise. the body work does need a little tidying no more than about four small rust bubble and having the paint rematched where its been painted in different areas at different times there is a very slight mismatch in some lights but i plan to mop it anyway and see if that makes any difference. Its done high miles cant remember exact figure but recall seeing 220,000 ish on the clock! :o I was to busy looking at how clean she is, but she drives and looks like she has well over half that mileage knocked off the clock :)
Its even got the original medium wave radio unit that works great. Its got service history including its original hand and service books.

Oh and the colour its mimosa yellow I havent seen many in this colour for obvious reasons its an aquired taste I like it :)

Cheers Pirate

TBH she has grown on me massively being I have known this car all of my teenage life and through my twenties I have alway admired it but the colour alway got me but of late the colour really grew on me and being there arent many about in that colour in the UK at least it makes it that bit more special..

It time for some serious engine bay and general body detailing then off to a classic car show and shine me thinks ;) even with the bits she need doping I still think she would do well the worst bits is slight wear on the seat bolster on the base easily fixed.

TBH I was going to get a 123 and do the retro thing with polished mexican hat alloys and a slight drop TBH I think doing that to this would be sacriledge

Oh my stars that is lovely! Always been a fan of a nice 123. I can see what you mean about the colour previously but now it definitely works in a lairy 70s kind of way.

I can see what you mean about wanting to keep it original but I don't think a set of Mexican hats would do that any harm. ;)

Have to say Mex Hats in my opp is a NO-NO on this car because the yellow trims just work so well. The metalics look great with Mex Hats, but the block shades like this Yellow really work with those trims. Why taker its "impact" away!!

A Cab driver??? Well actually yes its been considered but this would make a better taxi in NY surely?

TBH in Malta they would have no issue using this as a taxi although they would prefer a 240D they are probably still using them now...

What a great car!
I love those original wheel trims
I think it looks great the way it already is
But it's your choice!
Either way it's a great straight original car

Lovely looking car - I thought Maple Yellow when I saw the pics , one of the standard colours and quite similar .

That one looks to be in cracking condition .

I've got a 420SE coming for breaking soon , if you need any bits let me know as W126's share a lot of components with W123's .

I'd keep the steel wheels and trims as they just look right on the car .

Might swap the headlamps for the later facelift ones though ( can always be reversed if you keep the original ones ) .

Oh , and I see you need a nearside mirror .

Thanks Pontoneer will bear that in mind although I do like the early style head lamps.

:'( Only thing guys I might have been a little undecided when I firmly stated she stays completely original........ Just wait and see.....

Oh and dont worry anything I do will be completley reversable within half a day.... Not given to much away there then!

Hey Si. I've had more time to look at the pix and I think that for the time, effort and money spent on drop/mods, you could do the same but get it close to being super-original - a really great GTG/show car. The colour is perfect for it.

Anyway - you've always got the other MBs for 'street attitude' :)

First of all Sorry Russell :P Just what I said I wouldnt do!

Right some more pics :) Managed to pick up a bargain set of 6.5 x 14" genuine Bundt Fuchs or Mexican hats as some say I am considering (more than likely will ;) having the paint stripped off them and hand polishing them I think they look much better but one other thing is they have transformed they way the car drives it feel lighter on its feet and handles much better even though it was still a positive experience before hand!
I was considering a set of 16" bbs rs cpoies more than likely but I must admit the Bundts suit the car really well in a period way
Maybe more mods to come but all in good taste

I gave her a bit of a polish today fitted the alloys and took the headlamp glass off and cleaned it inside and out wow what a difference that made she looks much fresher imo ;)

 Oh all that well when Russ had his 560 SEL he wrote in his signature that he could officially start calling himself Victor Maitland or something like that lol Well it just stuck and as both he and I were big Foley fans until the dreaded third came out we randomly qoute all this type of guff for no reason other than our own humour I guess ..... I love it I think it confuses others sometimes though!

Actually Russ there was a 500 SL just like your in BHC2!!! Quality  'Have you ever driven a Mercedes Axle'
