It is possible, I have an electric fan on my 300TD that works on a switch I installed, its the fan from the aircon. Why whats wrong with the fan on your 2.0 190e, mine has never needed any secondry cooling. |

The fan does not seem to turn fast enough even though the fan switch is working and you can see the magnet activate the fan,the enginestill gets a little bit to hot for my liking,it has a new thermostat, and i dont think there is any gasket problems. How hot is too hot? A few years ago, Carl fitted a Kenlowe electric fan to his 2.3-16 Turbo. If memory serves me correctly, it was operated by a simple switch inside the car and seemed to work pretty well too!

Quick silly question. Last time I started the valver the fan was spinning straight away, quite slowly from memory. Cool day and cold engine, should this be happening? Sorry for the jack Steve. |

It will always spin idly around as long as the belt is running, and you can stop it with one finger - BUT - the clutch will kick in when it gets warm and the fan blades are then capable of removing your digits

Hi, The temp guage goes up to between the 120 and the next lowest mark if i am in traffic. The temp drops as soon as i drive obviously.I will check at what temp the fan comes on with an idea to replace the sensor.I suppose it should be about the 80 mark or just above. Steve |

Thats a bit hot If it goes up mentaly hot open the window and put the heater on full blast. It is possible to bypass the sensor so that the fan will be on all the time, maybe worth doing untill you get a new sensor. How is your coolant looking and your oil? |

We had a small debate about this some time ago. I think an auxilliary fan is a good idea, if only on the precautionary principle, because the price you pay for switch failure is simple - a new engine. My Evo 2 operates only with an electric fan; there is no engine-driven one. Now there's a thought... |

Exactly what I was thinking too. It might just be that you have a higher temperature thermostat, if i remember correctly there were a couple that kick in at different temperatures. One was 90 and the other was 100?

I am going to add that it could also be that the sender that feeds the gauge could be misreading, what's its normal running temp on the road? Have you tested the fan switch at all? Its very easy to do with a paperclip across the terminals and listen for the clonk. |

+1. or after you have shorted it you can try to turn the fan by hand. |

![]() Hey mates, my 2.6 had two electric fans in front of the rad, plus the engine driven one. It was that way when I bought the car, or am I missing something here? Edited by Drivinthebest, Fri Jun 4, 2010 9:33 pm.

A running temp on 80 is perfectly normal. Many people on here have reported that their car will hit the 100 mark and slightly over when sitting in traffic and have also stated that when moving again the fan will kick in until the car has resumed normal temperature. |
