I normally refer to this when looking for ratios, I am not 100% sure of its accuracy but it suggests 3.27 for pre facelift and 3.92 for post facelift. http://www.baureihe201.de/W201/technik.htm |

Dan, 2.6 auto is 3.07:1, from memory the manual is slightly lower at 3.27 or 3.64. I can check for you after the w/end. I know there was a change in the diff ratios for the manual in around '88. The 2.3-16 man is 3.27:1. |

Worth knowing this: A 2.6 manual up to 08/89 has a diff ratio of 3.27:1 (same ratio as a 2.3-16) BUT from 09/89 Merc lowered the ratio to 3.92:1 which is very interesting as that's about a 16% reduction. |
