Hi Mate I am sure both are interchangable in terms of bolting to the engine but I think the 190 Bonnet sits much lower than the 126/124's so I reckon bolt the 2.6 filter on there TBH I am converting mine to the M104 -24 engine but havent got as far as that yet so my suggestion comes purely from memory of working on both 2.6 190's as well as most other Merc variants with an M103 engine whether 2.6 or 3.0.

Hope that helps chap

:)

I cant remember I am afraid, I can dig out a part number if that helps ?

The main body is different is that right ? Do you happen to know where the part number is located ?

i have noticed that the lid is bigger from the m103 3.0 as i recently got it from someone but it seems like they had it fitted in their 190 2.6 so make what you want to make of it, but the lid is definately bigger, but seeing as the one of the 4 screws is seized i can undo it to relase the lid from the housing.

thanks guys,
pari you could be right in my reckoning lids would be possibly common ,same air filter diameter.
but i was looking up k&n replacement filter and noticed the 3.0 filter hieght (300e) is slightly taller than the 2.6,

so i need to order one to suit whichever air cleaner assy needs to be fitted with the car.

lower part may have different diameter size for 3.0 air intake vs 2.6 air intake?
assuming 3.0 would be bigger intake?

I can measure mine if you like ? Although the part numbers should tell you which model its from and I can vouch that it fits under the bonnet with bonnet lining in tact.

I would switch to the 3ltr intake. it has a larger opening and flows more air. this is a common upgrade on the 2.6 here in the US.
