Door glass on a w202, how is it held in ?

I'm only really here for the Kitchens

My brothers w202 C class is having problems with its door glass. You lower the window, the mech (including the channel) moves down but the glass stays put. There is a bit of resistance to movement from the glass but the main problem seems to be the glass isnt held tight enough in the metal channel at the bottom.

The glass was replaced by autoglass a while back.

Should there be gunk holding it in ? He tried bending the channel slightly then refitting but it didnt really work. He may have been over cautious though as he wasnt sure it was the right thing to do. Any tips ?
