possibility...................check both the pump and the fuel pump relay, the relay has been known to cause issues like this too

Right got her to start but she wont run under 2K and will not idle also she wont start unless someone else turns the key whilst I am under the bonnet encouraging her with a tickle of the AFM plate. Think its probably either the Cold start/Idle valve or EHA at this point!! ! qeustion I wanted to ask is I have a 2.3 8v breaker at the moment although I will pre-check part numbers before swapping as it is also the M102 engine I am pres8uming some parts will be shared....... We shall see Si

Can anyone advise what controls the AFM flap to depress when you crank the engine over. I know why she wont run but even after swapping the EHA and in the end the complete airflow meter with fuel dizzy for the working one of the 2.3 8v she is still the same if I balance the AFM position with the throttle bitterfly then she runs quite well she also revs fine above 2000 RPM. When I crank the 2.3 over you can see the AFM flap depressing slightly as the engine sucks air in. On the 2.0 the flap is not budging whislt the engine is cranked unless you push it down gently by hand and get the revs high enough to keep ithe flap open while it sucks air in?? I am presuming something electro mechanical operates it at low engine speeds or cranking at least?? Si

vacuum pipe leak ?......................i think the AFM plate is pulled down by vacuum,if you have a vacuum leak(split pipe) ,this could prevent the vacuum pulling the plate down in a controlled manner.....................just a suggestion

Also check that the 'plate' is clean as they do tend to stick closed when excessively dirty. I had that problem about a year ago, thinking the worst and it was just a case of cleaning the 'plate' carefully.

SORTED weyhey what a numpty I am it was the air flow meter though as I was in a bit of a rush to get the unit changed before I lost light last night I failed to notice I hadnt connected the hose to the base of the air metering unit from the cold start valve!!! DOH connected it and it fired. She runs great.I took the complete unit off of the 2.3 8v 190E which I am breaking and fitted it to the 2.0 then fitted the 2.0 unit to the 2.3 which proved the issue transferred across. Well another one sorted I will get there! ![]() Cheers for the help guys Edited by Benzsc1, Wed Jun 30, 2010 11:53 pm.
