Guys I have a C124 Boot lid that has an AMG duck tail spoiler on it all very nice but got no rear wing trims to go with it! Just wondering, two things? a: Can someone tell me how I can identify if its a genuine AMG or aftermarket ?? b: Does anyone know what its worth? Not that I am looking for treasure or anything like that with it, I am just curious as I may consider putting it on the bay or on here for sale! I don't want to over egg it and at the same time do not wish to merely give stuff away in this time of financial concern ![]() Cheer again chaps Simon Edited by Benzsc1, Tue Jul 13, 2010 4:00 pm.

In answer to your questions: 1. It should have the flat 'old-style' AMG print on it. With it still attached to the bootlid, that's probably all you can go by. If off the bootlid, then it should have the AMG part number on the inside of the spoiler. I must point out that I have seen one picture of a 'ducktail' and it didn't have the AMG print on it. Some also came with an AMG badge instead, this particular car may have just had the badge removed? 2. It's value is a bit of a strange topic. Some might say it's very sought after, but there was one on Ebay recently that only got up to a bid of £25 and didn't meet the reserve. Second time around it hit £103 but again, reserve not met. It did have a Buy It Now price of £125 but I don't think anyone snapped it up. You can buy a brand new one for £289 + VAT. Here's the link of the eBay ad that didn't sell, might give you a better idea as to what to look for: W124 AMG Ducktail Examples: W124 Ducktail with AMG printed on spoiler: ![]() W124 Ducktail without AMG Print ![]() Sounds pretty confusing, but I still vote that it should have the AMG stamp printed on the bootlid.

Early (pre-merger) Ducktails should have a C7 part number, whereas later versions use HWA part numbers. As mentioned Ebay has a few ducktails which are copies but some still have the HWA part number stamped on all 3 parts. The last time I checked the price had risen dramatically the 3 peices came to £350 before fitting and paint. I think that a new ducktail is the best option as removal is difficult nearimpossible as its glued to the bodywork. |

Thanks guys just what I needed an idea I also think the early spoilers had the AMG print and the leter ones may not have as my bootlid is off of a post face lift 124 and it has no AMG print it does have the small old style AMG badge on the right hand side of the spoiler so its either a fake or it genuine and the late ones were minus the print?? TBH I wont split it as i want to sell the boot lid as is..... Once again thanks Si |
