I will be pulling my engine out soon to replace a chassis leg, while its out I want to do the head gasket, timing chain and tensioners as well as do all the gaskets, i've seen reports on here of the head rebuilds costing upwards of £1500, could anybody tell me why its so expensive and what they actually had done to their heads. I've rebuilt a couple of heads with new valves etc and they have never cost even half of this! |

What engine you have mate? If you give details people here will reply according to their experience. But mainly depends on your location. if you are south and around London it's usually more expensive than northern garages. But someone may recomend you where to go. |

Well all I can tell you is that I'll be doing mine shortly and am expecting a bill of about €800/£640 from the machine shop. That will cover all 16 valve seats replaced, valves re-ground, 16 valve guides replaced, valves shimmed & the head face cleaned up. |
