Too High Idle

:help: I just changed the Engine and Trans in my 88 190E and engine Runs but idles way too high,
I checked my throttle cable and adjustment - everythings fine Does anybody have any suggestions?
Also Hi everybody!! I just joined the Club I live in Georgia (United States) Thanks for any imput

Hello and welcome.

There is an idle adjustment screw under the air filter housing. It's on the engine side. You will need a long screw driver to reach it. I think it's a flat bladed screwdriver you need.

That's on the M102 2.0l so it should be the same on the 2.3.

Air leaks in the inlet system can cause high idle problems.

Hi,

If the Idling screw hasn't been touched then I would say it won't be incorrect,

as it doesn't usually turn itself out of adjustment :no: :no:

I am inclined to agree with Richy 190 E.

Check ALL vacuum hoses for splits, condition and also that they are all on correctly.

You don't mention whether your high idling is constant or at what revs it idles at.

And at what running temperatures.

Also have you the Eco Gauge and what that is showing.

Thanks Guys for the replies! I''ll definately check the idle screw and the Air inlets to try
to solve this Issue . I can't wait to get my 190E back on the road.. It's been too Long! ^o)
