Opinions please. I have a 1984 registered 190e auto. I believe it is a 1983 model because when I bought a new water pump I had to order a 1983 one as the 1984 one would not fit. Also it has a single v-belt for the alternator and a single v-belt for the power steering pump. A single windscreen washer jet and 14 inch wheels. It passed its last MOT with just a new front wheel bearing replacement. It has electric windows in front, new Merc rear springs andnew shock absorbers. I put it on SORN last year as I failed to get the heater to blow hot so I bought a 1985 190 carburettor car with a very good heater. The question I am wondering is whether my 83/84 is one of the first . |

Take a look at post #9 in this pinned topic : Useful scans (Data, ads, road tests, etc.); Updated 7/1/09 ; 16V stuff added inc buying guide! Maybe the chassis number will give you a clue to its age |

What is the first letter of your registration? The very first 190s (I've only ever seen one in a press shot and one in the classifieds) were on A-reg plates. I've seen quite a few B-reg ones around. In fact a lovely black B-reg one was lovingly saved by two forum members is currently up for sale in the "Cars for sale" section of this forum: http://mercedes-190.co.uk/topic/6610187/1/#new Edited by nullogik, Thu Sep 30, 2010 10:15 am.
