Hello, i've got a 2.5-16 manual LHD and ever since i've had it there's been a clunking from the rear when driving along, most noticeable when cruising at motorway speeds, its not massively loud but noticeable and repetitive doesnt seem to speed up or slow with the car much...any ideas? also when pulling away and the road's slippy and there's wheelspin the asd light never lights up could this be a fault with the diff also? Thanks for any input in advance, Sam - mercedes190.co.uk newbie!

Hi Sam,does the ASD light come on when you turn the key to the second position ( the one before the starter engages ).
If not could just be a bulb.

there's a bit of play/slack when changing gear but not much, the clunking is continuous when driving every second or so...quite a dull clunk not too intrusive but noticable. dunk...dunk...dunk

Prop centre bearing, doughnut, diff, driveshaft CV joint - the list is long

You need to get it up in the air, stick it in gear and see what clonks when you rev it
